Meet Me In Phandalin

...known roads may be well traveled, but they aren't necessarily safe. Fell magic, deadly monsters, and cruel local rulers are all perils that you face when you travel in the Forgotten Realms. Even farms and freeholds within a day's walk of a city can fall prey to monsters, and no place is safe from the sudden wrath of a dragon...

It all started on the road to Phandalin, a small town with big problems

Welcome to the Lost Mine of Phandelver, an adventure module for D&D 5e (2014 rules). Sessions will be Tuesdays weekly from 7PM to 10PM EST. We will use Discord for voice, and Shmeppy for the game.

Find a form-fillable character sheet here

If you do not have access to a copy of the Player's Handbook, you can use the basic rules found here.

Adventure Hook

In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business."

You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. There hasn't been any trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.

You should think of a reason how your character came to know Gundren. For example, Gundren could be a childhood friend or someone who helped your character out of a tough scrape.

The Sword Coast

The regional map below shows just a tiny part of this vast world in a region called the Sword Coast. This is the part of the world from which you hail. The Sword Coast is part of a vast realm of independent city-states and freeholds. Outsiders call this realm "The Savage Frontier" but to those who live there it is simply The North.

30 years ago, Neverwinter was devastated by the eruption of Mount Hotenow, a cataclysm that killed the King and all his heirs. Ever since, Neverwinter and the surrounding lands have been ruled by it's Lord Protector.

One of the last bastions of civilization in the North
